In Progress by John Parker
In Progress was composed for the Intermediate Percussion Ensemble at Padua College (Brisbane, Australia) in 2005 and later revised in 2010. It was written as an attempt to get my students interested in playing tuned percussion and as an introduction to melodic improvisation.
Every attempt has been made to keep things simple, musical and with a strong sense of groove. The instrumentation is for tuned percussion, however I have included an optional electric bass part, which adds another dimension to the work.
Performers get to improvise on simple scales to create ‘fool proof’ solos

Player 4 – Vibraphone
