Dugongs by John Parker (comes with free downloadable backing tracks)
A student once commented whilst playing one of my percussion ensemble works that “it sounds like dugongs swimming in the ocean”. I took this as a compliment and aimed to one day write a piece based solely on this visualisation. Hence ‘Dugongs’ was born.
I have aimed to keep the piece as smooth and as flowing as possible just like the gentle giants of the sea themselves. It is written with intermediate players in mind and can be played as a percussion ensemble work, as a vibraphone solo or with many other combinations of instruments by using the free downloadable backing tracks supplied.
