Libertango by Astor Piazzolla arr. John Parker
One of Piazzolla’s most enduring works ‘Libertango’ has been arranged for percussion ensemble by John Parker.
“This was one of my first introductions to Piazzolla and it made quite an impression on me. I decided to arrange this work for percussion ensemble with the addition of acoustic bass, but it will work well with electric bass too.” Parker says.
Instrumentation:
Player 1 – Glockenspiel
Player 2 – Xylophone
Player 3 – Vibraphone
Player 4 – Marimba 1 (standard 4 octave instrument C – C)
Player 5 – Marimba 2 (standard 4 octave instrument C – C)
Player 6 – Acoustic bass (can be substituted with electric bass)
Player 7 – Drum set
Player 8 – Percussion (can be split between two players) – guiro, cabasa, tambourine, finger cymbals, triangle & four toms
