Back to the Old School – Metallica Medley arr. Jeff Jarrott
Percussion Ensemble arrangement of popular Metallica songs.
METALLICA is one of the greatest heavy metal bands the world has ever seen. They have been producing chart-topping albums since the release of their first album “Kill ‘Em All” in 1983. At the time of the release of this percussion ensemble arrangement in 2010, Metallica are once again touring the globe promoting their latest album Death Magnetic.
This medley features four of Metallica’s most popular songs – “The Call of the Ktulu”, “Fade to Black” (both from the album Ride the Lightning), “Master of Puppets” (Master of Puppets) and “One” (…And Justice for All).
This arrangement requires a minimum of seven players. Mallet parts can be doubled, though solo lines should remain played by only one player. The drum kit part requires the use of a double bass drum pedal. Alternatively, these sections can be played by another member of the ensemble (with sticks or mallets) on a kit bass drum mounted on chairs, preferably by a player who is doubling a mallet part.
Included with this arrangement is an optional violin part. Should you choose to use it, you may also wish to double the Bass Guitar part with a Cello and/or Double Bass. If possible, use electric string instruments and feel free to experiment with effects!
I guarantee your audiences will love it!
