Notes from the composers:
Indefatigable /ˌɪndɪˈfatɪɡəb(ə)l/ – (of a person or their efforts) persisting tirelessly.
The title (originally in inverted commas) was a slightly tongue in cheek use of the word, which related to the very tired state within which one of the composing team persistently found themselves subjected to during the composition and construction of this piece.
Sam – This work came about in discrete sections that have been skillfully woven together by John. They cover some of my musical obsessions including repetition, harmonics, rhythms that displace the beat and cross bar lines and parts that go in and out of phase with each other.
The piece is mainly constructed from musical loops of various lengths and it’s very important for the players to have a strong understanding of how their loop functions by itself as well as within the whole. The piece later features a ‘choral-like’ passage which builds in intensity and tempo for the exciting finale.
This piece would suit intermediate to advanced players.
